September 2022: Maker House Coffee Co.

Secret Sip Coffee Club, is excited to take our membership back to Alberta for another artistic treat in September. Maker House Coffee Co. is a small batch roastery nestled in the prairies of Alberta, Canada, operating out of Red Deer. They are not only coffee artisans but also demonstrate their creativity through music and film. The team explained that they wanted killer coffee in their very own local music and film studio, so they decided to just do it themselves. This was the birth of Maker House!

Like many people throughout the country, the team starts every day with a cup of coffee. Whether it's enjoyed on the road, on the job site, with little people climbing on your lap, or in quiet ritual- it all starts with coffee. “That's why we take our coffee roasting seriously. But not too seriously, because it's still coffee.”

“We source a variety or fair trade, organic and rain forest certified beans, roasted fresh at our beautiful roastery in the heart of Red Deer, Alberta. We are proud to have our coffee and cold brew served at a number of local breweries and cafes.“

For this special secret shipment, Maker House served up their “Space Lift” blend, which is a beautiful marriage of Brazil and Ethiopian beans eliciting a creamy butterscotch, juicy chocolate, and sweet jammy taste profile. The inspiration for this roast came via the owner’s film and recording studio, “The Space”, as they wanted the perfect blend for artists hitting the space. The blend is designed to make the perfect americano, perfectly pulled espresso + hot water. However, like any good creation, it's delicious no matter how you prepare it.
