October 2020: Rose N Crantz Coffee Co.
Secret Sip Coffee Club is thrilled to unveil October’s secret roasting partner. Tucked away in the Northwestern part of Ontario, is a remarkable team and roasting collective which has captivated our members attention with not only one of the most unique brands we have showcased, but a delectable and rare single origin to ring in fall.
Rocking it out of Thunder Bay, Ontario, Rose N Crantz Roasting Co. continues to caffeinate the area’s patrons with incredible coffee.
Founded in 2013 by Jamie Nichols, RnCRC is built around the concept of ethical trade, locally roasted coffee in Thunder Bay and across Northwestern Ontario. “Our coffee varieties are curated on a seasonal basis and imported from a wide variety of global coffee producers and farms. We roast in small batches that are carefully tended to achieve the highest quality, freshly roasted coffee beans for you to enjoy at home, work, and on the go.”
The core value at Rose N Crantz Roasting Co. is that coffee should be an enjoyable experience that brightens your day and brings people together. Part of that experience is in knowing exactly where your coffee comes from - for this reason the team include the names and locations of all single origin farms and/or co-ops on their labels.
Rose N Crantz Roasting Co. is committed to supporting the future research and agricultural developments related to coffee production. They are a contributor to World Coffee Research, an organization whose mission is to "grow, protect, and enhance supplies of quality coffee while improving the livelihoods of the families who produce it". This commitment also leads the team at Rose n Crantz to regularly support the local efforts of Roots to Harvest, EcoSuperior, Good Food Box, and other organizations.
October’s secret roast was an unbelievable single origin from Papua New Guinea from the Tambul Nebilyer, Highlands Province, at the Kunjin Wahgi Valley cooperative of various smallholder farms. The variety was Bourbon, Caturra, Typica, Mundo Novo grown at an altitude 1200-1600 MASL and washed manually.
The tasting notes we identified on this specific micro-lot were strong notes of cookies and cream, Irish toffee, milk chocolate, and honey.
Secret Sip Coffee Club is so pleased to have partnered with Rose N Crantz Roasting Co. to bring you this month's secret roast, and what we believe to be, one of Canada’s best coffees. To learn more about Rose N Crantz Roasting Co., check out their website below:
